i had a few different usernames and avatars going around on websites of various. eventually, as one does, they all converged into barriertrio + an avatar of an enemy that is definitely not the Barrier Trio. for a while on tumblr (i think?), i had the Barrier Trio overworld sprites as my avatar, where they're tiny and facing away from each other. but the full trio in tiny pic form doesn't look great to me! i have always preferred how the Electro Specter looks in avatar form (the concentric circles in the bg especially help for aligning it so it doesn't get cut off at the edges). plus it also satisfies the niche of "big blocky creature with face of dots"
i definitely spent a non-trivial amount of mental energy asking myself if it'd be worth it to rebrand for consistency but ultimately, beyond the inconvenience of it, i worry that like.... if i say i'm barriertrio and then make my avatar barriertrio, people are gonna think i'm trying to Represent the Barrier Trio. like i'm some kinda mother 3 exclusive content style account. the disconnect i think makes it clearer that this is barriertrio underscore bean talkin, not some sort of RP account that's gonna strike a spectacular pose. (no shade to any RP accounts! thats just not what my online presence is for.)
plus -- barriertrio_bean can already be a mouthful for streamers sometimes, but i think electrospecter_bean would be worse
