and no it's not fucking worth it, what are you kidding. No. It's not worth it. It's not even close to worth it. You could buy a car for that. It's a prestige campaign game which has a 'punch the lion's balls off' card.

No, do not buy the big box of cardboard for a thousand dollars. In much the same way that buying a single modern deck up front would not be worth it, this cannot possibly be worth it.

I would never accuse Gloomhaven of being "minimalist" but I feel like one of the big differences I see between it and Kingdom Death Monster (the latter of which I've admittedly never played) is that Gloomhaven doesn't include little plastic minis for every monster, they're there for the player characters but the monsters are all little cardboard standees.

There's still a lot of them (so many of them), and other little cardboard bits, but at least it feels like they're more concerned with fitting as much game into the box as possible, focusing the high monetary and space costs on the few most important items, rather than trying to make everything look the most impressive and "premium" on the table.
