Pokemon fans have the Sonic fan mindset.
Both have internalized the low quality of their games as acceptable.
i enjoyed the game. therefore it was a good game
This is where I am, I guess?

As a Pokemon fan, I really hate how you're not wrong. Like... most of us are totally fine with the games having poor quality, and it's kinda driving me nuts how the bar is so low.
🤔 No, as a Sonic fan I don't think it's acceptable, just intrinsic. Tooootally different 😉
Pokemon games were quality enough in the handheld days. However, most (rightfully) are upset that the company with the biggest property IN THE WORLD short change their mainline releases to such a degree. It's not that they're outright bad, but that they could be so much better yet folks settle.
what do you dislike about the pokemon games? the biggest controversy i can think of recently was dexit but long term it seems like it's actualyl been more healthy for the games to release with fewer pokemon by default and have them trickled out through events and dlc and stuff
i don't think i ever conjured a strong opinion on "dexit" since i don't generally transfer between games anyway
i fell off of sword and shield and can't remember why. only main series gen i haven't finished. it just felt like nothing was happening all the time
i suppose my main lament with violet is that i wish there'd been more stuff squirrelled away in secret corners. i think that's a fundamental problem with putting this particular genre in an "open world" (really big map) though. the stakes were a good idea but i never found like, 1 of them and there's nothing to even hint at where i haven't looked god dammit
sword/shield are the only mainline pokemon game I finished (plot-wise) and I was very struck by how much of the plot action happened just off-screen, without any involvement by the player character
