The Reptilian Overlords Spacenam range is every bit as beefy, chonky, and fun to paint as you'd imagine. While they make the best Catachan stand-ins on the market today, in my opinion - also available in plastic from Wargames Atlantic - they're also fun just to paint or throw into armies of near-future or sci-fi themed miniatures. Games like Stargrave, Five Parsecs from Home, Xenos Rampant... I could go on, but I just like these miniatures and if you haven't got your own printer, Reptilian Overlords have licensees worldwide so you don't have to miss out on toy soldiers if you dig the look.

It's also not often that I get to paint something with an eye to desert gear. Oftentimes it's difficult to find a way to reinvent the wheel with armour that doesn't look excessive; adding more colour to what's essentially a study in beige can often make desert kit look out of place or silly, but Morghast Bone or something like Vallejo's Iraqi Sand or Dark Sand fit the bill nicely, I find.

There's a full video guide on how I painted this guy, too. There's lots of drybrushing, it's nice and easy! It doesn't take much to adapt the choccy chip camo scheme with other colours, either.
