And hey, great question. For a good while now, I've been using DesignDoll for all my size/pose references. It's a great tool for POV stuff, size diff, macro/micro, etc. I created a unique model for most of my characters and just load those into a scene and pose them. Ensures sizes are always consistent and lets me know if a silly idea I have in my head is even possible. The general process is like this:
However, a lot of my comics don't get the DesignDoll treatment. You can easily tell when things look a bit toony like THIS.
Hope that helps! I highly recommend using 3D software to help with 2D art. It's a huge time saver and there's no reason to be afraid of using tools that will help you. Clip Studio has a built-in 3D model thing that even lets you drop in objects and scenes. Give it a shot!
