like my god, I cannot tell you HOW many times as a glass cannon melee elementalist I have been one-shot by a world enemy simply because I could not see its telegraphs under twenty players' worth of effects. this had been a thorn in my side for the whole decade I've been playing, but I did not realize how much of a drag it had become until I came back from FFXIV (where I have battle effects disabled), re-experienced this, and then turned around and went back.
