the inexplicable urge to tunnel straight through the base of Mount Stupid in order to reach the Valley of Despair in record time

(for context, I have just succeeded in installing a new SSD, partitioning it, and installing Linux Mint, and some horrible part of me is going "there is literally nothing stopping me from attempting to install Arch Linux* / fucking around and finding out")

Linux comes in a lot of different versions! The one I installed, Linux Mint, is actually super nice and familiar so far? You do have to dig into the console sometimes if you, like me, are a Niche App Enjoyer, but the interface and overall experience is a lot like Windows, except less full of random annoyances.

(Arch Linux, meanwhile, is a version that's a massive meme for both how easy it is to brick everything with it and the stereotypes about the sorts of people who use it)
