It's honestly really interesting how the answer to "which of these characters would you be / are attracted to" can be very different depending on if we're talking fiction or IRL. Like, for example, I just realized that Urianger ticks most of the checkboxes for my type IRL:

  • Gender non-conforming AF with a number of feminine traits
  • Reserved and awkward, but deeply kind
  • Calm and thoughtful and very very clever
  • Can easily talk for hours about his Special Interests

but I don't have a Thirst for him? I'd be mooning all over him if he was a real person, but as a character, I like him a lot but am not Blushingly Compromised by his presence.

Meanwhile, the one FFXIV character I am consistently, unwaveringly Thirsty for is X'rhun Tia, who is a delightful individual but doesn't tick nearly so many IRL Type boxes and is also not the flavor of genderness I'm attracted to. And that's mild next to my friends who are down hard for the insufferable geniuses and murderiffic villains
