it's not much (the spooky parts start at 140+) but these are still satisfying numbers

time management and pomander management (which is actually just an extension of time management 90% of the time) is critical for healers, and I think I'm gradually easing into the semblance of a strategy:

  • don't bother exploring every room and opening every chest unless there's a specific pomander you really need for an upcoming mechanic (e.g. resolution for the 140 boss)
  • just open chests along the way and create opportunities to use pomanders you find (whether by keeping non-essential pomanders like fortune at 2, or finding creative ways to use an extra witching/lust)
  • fight strategically - fight things close to or on the way to the key room, and avoid fighting anything that isn't absolutely necessary
  • multitask as much as you safely can (slidecasting your way to a predetermined destination while fighting something, for example)
  • as soon as the key opens, get out of there

I'm basically taking a "pomanders come back, time doesn't" and "better to be sorry about resources than sorry about time" approach. we'll see how it holds up as I get higher!
