me: "I'm so cold and hungry... I want soup"
grocery stores: "haha every soup has either meat or celery in it SIKE"
me: ":c"

I love soup as a concept but in practice the only readily available soups I can eat are tomato soup and french onion soup

the things I'd do for some hot, savory congee...

the local asian store has congee in CANS and it is DELICIOUS i am saved :eggbug-heart-sob:

I am also loading up on french onion soup tomorrow and getting a bunch of spinach and mushrooms to throw in there. if the stores won't sell the veggie soup I so clearly deserve I will cheat my own :host-frown:

  • 1 can french onion soup from store
  • whole lotta raw mushrooms
  • whole buncha raw spinach
  • extra virgin olive oil (optional)
  • bread (optional)

heat soup to boiling over stove on high. throw in mushrooms and boil for 10 min. throw spinach on top and boil for another 3 min. put in bowl. pour some olive oil over top. serve with bread on side, for dipping. enjoy

depending on what french onion soup you use this may or may not be vegetarian (most french onion soups have meat broth) but there is nothing stopping you from substituting other soups

Honestly soup is easier to home make than people think if you aren't all precious and foodie about it. One of my go-to meals during my last veg phase was what I called "handful soup": you literally get a pot of water, and just throw in a literal handful of whatever you like, and cook it until it's done. Usually soya bits or lentils for protein, frozen veg, and some kind of starch like small pasta or rice. Season as desired with some kinda bouillon and spices.
