the thing is that I'll likely have to keep doing this for the next few weeks, given that thrips have a rapid life cycle, like two-three weeks rapid, and can reproduce asexually... and the little fuckers also lay their eggs in the leaves themselves and pupate in the soil. so even if you think you've killed all of the ones currently around, missing a single one starts your problems all over again
I'm trying to avoid bringing out the real heavy hitter (spinosad) because this is still a light-ish infestation (my poor basil would argue otherwise tho) and thrips have a reputation for adapting to pesticides REALLY quickly. later this week I may bring out the neem oil though, just to doubly make sure they stay dead
