excited to water my precious basil with hydrogen peroxide
(as long as you dilute it and don't get it on the leaves, this is apparently fine for plants and very, very not fine for horrible little creatures that might be hiding in your soil, waiting for a chance to munch on your plants)
IT IS DONE I guess I will see in a few days whether the basil is fine or not (for the record, 1 part 3% hydrogen peroxide to 3 parts distilled water)
for context I am trying to figure out some relatively low-cost, safe-for-food ways to continuously treat for pests, both on and around the plants - I'm not sure if these thrips are the sort that spend a phase of their life pupating in the soil but it'd be nice to cut off one avenue of growth for them if they are, plus head off any potential fungus gnat issues. if this doesn't hurt the basil I might do this every other watering or so, maybe alternating with mosquito bits
