plant brainrot level: I bought scallions from the store partially because I wanted scallions, but mostly because I wanted to grow scallions

I already have nutrients for my precious basils that are growing semi-hydro so keeping these alive and growing beyond their usual "stuck in a glass of water" timespan will be feasible, I hope

I cut these YESTERDAY and I put them in PLAIN TAP WATER and they already have half a centimeter of new growth what the FUCK

okay, I did give them their personal sunlamp. BUT

okay okay okay okay I get it, y'all didn't need an adjustment period from coming home from the store like I thought y'all did, y'all are ready for the Good Nutrient Water now, okay okay I'll BE RIGHT THERE

you're still going through the one week quarantine period though. this is for your own good, not just the basils

i gave in. I brought them to my nice warm room. there are already thrips on the basil (I'm treating it as if there thrips on the basil) and both the scallions and basil are getting daily sprayovers anyway so heck it

Our rec is doing it in a clear glass/cup (sake cups with cute designs on them are a good choice). The water can def get uhhhhhh Gross. So sometimes you gotta change it; being able to see when the water starts to get cloudy is helpful. Also if you give them a little bit of plant food'd water they go turbo lol

If the brainrot advances to growing plants from grocery store produce seeds, I will warn you that conventional tomatoes are bred to have no flavor and raising them by hand in better conditions... will still yield tomatoes that taste more like cardboard than tomato. (But hopefully if you reach that point you'll be interested in heirloom seeds anyways!)
