I remembered that we have some music we bought on iTunes waaaaay back in 2014, and was like "yeah sure I'll go download it, I still enjoy the Pokemon ORAS OST"

cue a journey as I discover that

  • there is no longer a web frontend for the iTunes store apparently?? you have to download the app, which ofc isn't available on Linux
  • also iTunes apparently got partly cannibalized to create something called Apple Music, which on cursory examination seems to be a Spotify clone (all stream no own)
  • I sigh very loudly and go to open both up on iPad instead
  • lo and behold, the music is Not There and every web article I can find is just like "hmmm have you tried opening the Purchases tab in the iTunes store???"

meanwhile I can just log into my Bandcamp account, on Firefox, and grab all the stuff I've bought there years and years and years ago. though who knows how long that'll be the case considering Epic's shit

why is buying music like this (answer: corporate enshittification sucks)

anyway time to try and remember that one site that has all the FF soundtracks and also find an equivalent for pokemon I guess. I'm not buying them a second time if it's gonna be Like That
