the tendency of redditors to pile onto someone for expressing a Wrong Opinion is obnoxious in the context of things that matter (gender, mental health, etc) and genuinely helpful for things that don't matter (which rice cooker to buy)

even before the accursed API changes there was a distressing number of bot posters but they were usually easy to pick out between the twenty or so people farquaad pointing and also because they usually don't write bangers like "my entire house burnt down and the only thing left standing was my rice cooker. it's still making rice ten years later" or "I would propose to my rice cooker if I could"
