I have said it before, and I'll say it again: the hostility and gatekeeping actually forces trans people to rush transition more, because you get locked into the fear of losing the chance if you don't just sign on for whatever keeps they stuff you are sure about coming. I was terrified to say no to vocal surgery because I was afraid the clinic would get suspicious that I wasn't "Trans enough", and god only knows how many have gone ahead and done it, because the alternative was risking losing even just hormones.

RAPID NODDING

Like, we were suicidal DAILY until we got surgery to yeet the offending parts from our vessel. We didn't want HRT, but for a very long time, we had kind of consigned ourselves to the idea that we would have to take it in order to actually get the thing that would make us stop being suicidal, because Gatekeeping.

Fortunately, things became more nonbinary-friendly over the years and we found some great therapists and surgeons, so we didn't have to, but aaaaaaa.
