seriously entertaining the thought of maxing out A Scholar of the Correspondence (solo, of course) and then getting myself kicked out of the University... and leaving it that way. that would be really funny and entirely in-character for the doctor

I just gotta make sure I grab everything important that's locked behind University access first. I do already have the lab, and I think I can still grind Connected: Summerset and Benthic via an Endowment of a University Fellowship if I need it, and I think that I can start the Railroad even if I'm kicked out... hmm

The main thing that's gonna hurt is that I won't be able to start Flute Street until after all this. I can probably still unlock Shapeling Arts through getting a Thorned Ribcage or studying a Whitsun egg but I want the Rubbery Man lore, dammit

the deep OC lore explanation is that of the crew, Nathan is the only one with a lab, given that he had upper-class academia-old-blood privilege. both he and the doctor are technically Unwelcome at the University. (the doctor for being too much of a radical madman even for Benthic, and Nathan for academically eloping with him.) but they still have access to Nathan's lab because his students really like him and are happy to smuggle him and company in through the back door/mirror, and like many people, the Dean is unwilling to fuck around and find out with a lab full of Correspondence enthusiasts
