when I say "basil" it is not a metaphor for weed, btw. it's literal basil, of the kind you make literal pesto out of. pretty sure it is specifically ye standard sweet basil, Ocimum basilicum

that being said. I've gotten SO MUCH information about plant care from reading posts by literal marijuana growers on reddit. what I do with my basil is nothing compared to how fussy they are about their plants

Weed is special because not only only is it niche specialized (even with a total disinterest in the subject I'm aware that plants grown for hemp and plants grown for chemical payload NEED to be kept apart lest they cross-polinate and suck at both tasks) but the humans interested in the end chemical product are not just interested in getting SOME payload. No no. They have specific desires. They are trying to optimize the hell out of that payload. And agriculturalk optimization tops out at "reasons why my go-to joke post is plants domesticated humans."
