we normally do not experience much Fictivity Vertigo* on account of a) having few fictives, b) us not really engaging with their sources on a fandom level, and c) their source characters generally not being common focuses of art/fic/introjection anyway

but today, we ran into a system who also had a fictive of one of those characters - said fictive was dating another headmate and had drawn some selves-ship art of themselves. it was a very "Hey, I recognize that guy-- wait, no, I don't? Huh??" moment for me.

meanwhile, Feldspar was less vertigo'ed by the discovery of a fellow [redacted] fictive, and was just like "Oh, that art's adorable! They seem happy together. I'm glad for them!"

*in which we see art or mentions or fellow fictives of someone's source character in the wild and have to pause for a moment to process the sudden surrealness
