I am just witnessing the drama about Action Change from a distance, feeling faintly bewildered, because like. I get wanting to preserve the current multi-button combo layout on jobs with branching combos, because managing to go down the right branches while also navigating encounter mechanics is part of what makes those jobs satisfying to people. That makes total sense!!

But also I feel like...... having to hit multiple buttons in the right order is not the only way to make a job interesting to play. Nor should it be the only way! If I am playing a tank, I am not doing so for the riveting gameplay of pressing 1-2-3 over and over. I am doing so because I want to make decisions about how and when to use mitigations, where to position the boss, those kinds of things! By all means, consolidate the paladin basic combo and give me room to put Cover back on my bar, and then give me opportunities to use it to save the day in the most memeworthy ways possible.
