anyway my pictomancer opinion is: I like it a lot!!!
I jokingly said it was Black Mage Lite because you gotta count to three, but I genuinely do feel like it hits a sweet spot between summoner and black mage. it really requires you to be aware of what you're doing to get the most out of it, but there are fewer buttons to keep track of and your windows for setting things up aren't as strict as black mage's.
I appreciate that there's some decision-making involved wrt entering subtractive palette, as your casts are longer and your weave windows narrower - you want to avoid overcapping your palette gauge, but it's not as simple as "just weave in this one button when you have a chance." likewise, I really appreciate that there's decisionmaking involved wrt rendering motifs - you can prepare them anytime before their muse counterparts come off cooldown, but it's a LONG cast time, so you have to think about when is safe to cast them. people have commented on the damageless sketch casts feeling weird, but honestly I think it's extremely good that they don't do damage, as it lets you put them back up during downtime and also means that you aren't strong-armed into working them into the 2 minute burst (have I talked about how I dislike the 2 minute burst meta yet? I really dislike the 2 minute burst meta. full respect to people who like high-end content as it currently is, but I've realized it's not what I really want out of combat.)
the thing is that I'm still going to be healing everything anyway, since I personally find it the most interesting role as long as things go to shit. (and even when they don't go to shit, at least I get the satisfaction of having done community service.) but if I were to play DPS, I'd seriously consider picking up pictomancer.
