after 5000 years of dithering I'm finally getting into mechanical keyboards
starting with a Keychron Q3 80% since it hits most of the things I was looking for (metal housing, rotary encoder, QMK programmable, hotswappable) and is a Popular Brand so there's lots of posts about them if I need info. switches are Gateron Blues since I'd like to trial clicky switches (and they were the only ones left in stock) but I grabbed a switch tester in case it turns out the clicky-clicky gets on my nerves
only thing that annoys me is that the keys aren't shine-through (I don't get why you would get backlighting if it doesn't also illuminate the key legends??) and since they're south-facing LEDs, it's a pain in the ass to find keycaps for them. that being said, I don't really use backlighting anyway and I do know of at least one place that makes keycaps for south-facing LEDs. I guess I'll see how I feel once it gets here
