my impression from looking through Goulet Pens and also various fountain pen communities is that fountain pens are like plants. you start with a cheapo 8 dollar one you grabbed at the store... but then you black out, and when you've come to you now own like twenty pens, at least three of which cost you a firstborn's ransom, and you have an entire fleet of supplies dedicated to pampering them. to say nothing of the bottle of cherry-scented color-changing sheening ink

As someone with an entire ink shelf and three twsbi precisions, yeah, that sounds about right.
there's a joke among chicken-keepers about "chicken math", where one somehow multiplies into two, then three, four, six... chicks are easily available at a lot of feed stores, so once you're equipped for chickens, it's so easy to grab another!
