fountain pen adventure updates - since my last poasting I have acquired, in addition to the Pilot Metropolitan, a Lamy Safari (with fine, broad, and 1.1 stub nibs) and a bottle of Diamine Polar Glow ink (aka IRL violant ink).
I'm realizing that I don't care about how a fountain pen looks so much as I care about how it feels in my hand, by which I mean I need a metal pen so I can fidget with its weight, texture, and temperature. The Safari is neat but it feels Wrong because it's plastic instead. :C It also feels scratchy to write with compared to the Metropolitan. I think I will keep it anyway because switching nibs is super easy and it seems like it'll be nice for testing how different inks read at different nib sizes. (also it just seems like the kind of pen the good doctor owns. like I can totally see him strolling around with one of these in his pocket.)
the ink, though! oh my god! it's glorious! and I'm so mad that I can't figure out how to photograph it in a way that does it justice!! it is actually unreal on the right paper and I am downright delighted
