to people who don't Warframe, this clip should give you some idea of what I'm talking about: my setup isn't quite this ridiculous yet (they've got a few more bells and whistles) but it operates on the same principles: bubble that traps enemies and projectiles in the center + projectile that keeps going no matter how many enemies it hits = bloody, bloody profit

Back in MYYYYYY day if we needed the entire level to die, we brought Banshee and she stood on the objective screaming continuously for 5 waves while Banshee's player AFKed for a sandwich!! Or Saryn, but they never meaningfully revamped Saryn during my tenure and also Saryn had to like, cast one ability and then melee the target each wave, which had nowhere near the same AFKability.

On a totally unrelated note after eyeballing that vid, have you tried Nidus? I wonder if you'd appreciate meatball man.

Also Warframe has such an interesting like... dynamic around afking... I feel like a bunch of the group missions I do will often have one player hanging out on top of the objective with an ability passively going. It's not anything I've seen in other games, at least not to this level of people being chill about it

I think it works well in Warframe because depending on mission & loadout there's a lot of times where that is meaningfully contributing! In the end the reason not to AFK in most multiplayer games is because you become a millstone for the team; in Warframe this is not always the case.

It is probably also A Thing that ~due to how Warframe is™~ the power/contribution level of PUGs is all over the place. In some places people would be (not unjustifiably) mad that you weren'tr tryharding max contribution possible, but sometimes in Warframe you get a pug who's doing shitall of numbers but giving everyone energy smoothies the entire time and maybe that's that player's personal best with what they have, because you need hella specific things to hit the theorycraft max so you're just like "yay! energy smoothies! love this guy!"

In many games, they hype up the strength of your character in cutscenes to make you feel cool even though it wouldn't be practical to have you be that strong in actual play. In Warframe, the legends about the god-like Tenno have to be tuned down in order to make them believable.

"Oh, the Tenno? Yeah, I... uh... heard one once destroyed an army with a sandstorm. It just seems a bit far-fetched that one could pull an entire tower full of mind-controlled soldiers into what can only be described as a 'magnetic meat blender' made of a single arrow going in circles fast enough to split atoms."
