There's this image from The Force Awakens art book that ultimately kiiiind of gets used in The Rise of Skywalker-- this early notion that the Death Star wreckage is under water and our heroes have to visit it to find a map-- but this image, right here, with sea weed growing off the gun barrels of long-dead turbolasers--
I really love this picture. It's stuck with me for almost a decade, and the closest I think Star Wars has gotten to this is when you get to explore some Clone Wars wreckage on Kashyyyk in Jedi: Fallen Order.
The notion of Star Wars being a place where history has happened is oddly a thing that doesn't get explored much in the visual language. I love that we do get some of it in the Sequels-- Jakku, the old rebel base on Crait, the Death Star remnants on Kef-Bir-- but I want more.
