Just had a video meeting with some people in another office and their meeting room has a wallpaper (or some other kind of print) that is just a ton of lines intersecting at random angles. Unsurprisingly, video encoders don't really like this and it means that the background of the call ends up being full of noise and artifacting. What an incredible choice for a room that is used almost exclusively for video calls. Like making the set of a newsroom out of a pattern that would cause a moiré effect

give me an idea: a confetti canon to bit rate crush anyone trying to film something in public. can't stop people filming in public, but sure can make the video a blurry potato quality mess. (or at least make sharing it online in HD unlikely)

i guess the music one is probably good-enough insomuch as it's easy to do and doesn't just make it impossible for people there live to hear anything.

i guess you could do like noise cancelling with a big speaker
