on new macs, apple put the emoji picker on the function key (it still also works as a function key. it's doing the press vs. hold thing) and that seems a lot simpler to use than ^ + ⌘ + space but i haven't gotten used to it yet

oh, yeah, i bet that's true. the globe symbol makes more sense for "keyboards" than emoji (though i guess it replicates the experience of adding the japanese keyboard to type emoji on ios prior to it getting centered)
that does seem a lot better. I still don't have the chord perfectly memorized
