Still folding
- A banana. You bent the tips to touch. You demonstrate the danger by pushing two hard and tearing space-time (the peel)
- A single strand of spaghetti. Basically the same but the strand shatters. The bonus of this is you can explain some aspect of the technology as "cooking the spaghetti"
Donuts
- You start with a donut hole stuck in the middle of a donut. You pull out the donut hole and explain you can make it from one end to the other quicker if that hole isn't in the way. You show the further dangers using a jelly donut or an éclair
- Alternately: still start with the donuts together and then explain that even if you move the donut hole to somewhere else in the galaxy, the 'hole' is still in the center of the donut so you can travel to it quickly
