I'm reading books again
Just Finished
The Other Black Girl — Zakiya Dalila Harris
I read this for my book club and I didn't really like it. For a while, I thought I just wasn't enjoying the writing style or wasn't really feeling like reading but both the revelation and the pacing of the ending makes me feel like it wasn't a problem with me. There's a core story I like here, and a moment at the ~2/3 point where I thought there was going to be a major subversion of expectations that I was excited for, but the actual reveal was much more dissapointing.
Boat Life Vol 1 — Tadao Tsudge
I picked this up from a comic shop without knowing anything about it other than it's name was good. I thought it was alright but not amazing—a success.
Currently Reading
The Concrete Island — J.G. Ballard
I started this last night after finishing Boat Life and am about 1/3 through. Not floored by it but I'm enjoying it so far. Fun premise that I'll hopefully land on being well explored. Dude sure loves car crashes, huh?
