i think maybe posts with content warnings should still show their titles, so i have some more specific idea of what the post is about beyond the fact that it contains Thing

a workaround in some cases

sometimes you can get the effect you want with a combo of tagging1 and using --- to force a read more2 under a short intro. This doesn't work for things that really need content warnings and your intro needs to be short enough to not get caught by the sites automatic read more cutoff but it's useful some of the time

  1. tag muffling exists now, so a bunch of the more-mundane things that get CWed on mastodon (e.g., politics) can be tagged and not CWed here

  2. as of the new posting epoch it looks like you need a blank line above the --- but don't need one below

i've been thinking for a while it would be nice to have a separate description field for content warnings, kind of like. somewhere to put those full-sentence cw tags that retains the information without being bad for filtering n stuff. as opposed to the actual titles, that i'd prefer to keep separate (though it would be better than nothing)

just had a look through the feature request forum and didnt see that posted by anyone yet, maybe i'll put one in myself or something

it's an unusual figure of speech for "display what they're all about", but I'll allow it. posts should show their metaphorical titties a bit (but actual titties should be marked by an 18+ tag)

Honestly ideally u should bee able to content warn any part of teh post u want wiff different content warnings and stuff. But teh UX for that would require a bit of workshopping.

Also I was gonna say "well sometimes posts on here are jusf titles" but I guess in thaf case it would bee on teh poster to like, not put sensitive content there, hehe. If they want huge bold text we already hav CSS.

(alternatively there could also bee a special "Context" text field that is only show while teh content is hidden)

if nothing else you can already proto-cw parts of a post with <details> for the content and <summary> for the cw, but the lack of any way to do this without intimate knowledge of html renders it inaccessible to most

i think that this is already how it works for 18+ posts too so ??? (i was just thinking this same thing when i opened a "totk spoiler" cw and honestly it was a really minor spoiler and the post wasn't really about totk at all, i learned nothing whatsoever about the plot from it)
