oh shit, these literally are just markdown files on my computer. like literally literally they are just a non-hidden directory. Yeah, I'm probably going to like this more than notion. Also fuck is my standard for software doing a good thing low.

I feel like 'it would be easy and not a pain to modify a file in my text editor of choice' is something that shouldn't be too much to ask

We recommend Obsidian to normal people who ask how we're so put-together. We don't actually use it, because we're an Emacs queen who uses Org Mode, but one of our friends is the person who writes the documentation for Obsidian and we go way back.

it's one of those things I've meant to learn for a while but also the last time I tried to learn emacs my pinky was sore after the first day (even with some remapping) so I have been hesitant

we found the pinky problem to be mostly alleviated with putting the control key back to the left of A and below Tab like the gods intended, but also we switched to typing dvorak around the same time too, so that's a confounding factor.
