While this is largely true, I think the big use case is live sports, especially if it’s something not carried by any network in your home country.
god, live sports is such a nightmare and outside a few niche things (paying to see f1 stuff is incredibly straightforward), I can't imagine trying to navigate how to see all the games 'my team' plays without piracy
Paying for a service that only has the content you want if you use a VPN is wild to me. If no one has a license to air/stream/sell the thing you want to watch in your country, then any claimed 'loss' from pirating isn't real.
yeah, even if some royalties somehow end up getting paid, there's no way they're being paid appropriately. it's just some magic to pretend it isn't already piracy
