north is everything past the arlington bridge except for north and east kildonan because that's on the other side of the river and that's all east except if you go there via chief peguis trail then that's still north, simple as can be
Ooh, I had meant grid North/South in grid layout but what 'north' means (especially when e.g., north end is fairly central) is also good
Q: What happened to South Kildonan?
A: It never existed (or, arguably, East Kildonan is South Kildonan). North Kildonan only exists because of century-old civic disputes.
(sorry I just love this bit of trivia and how it echoes into the present day)
