edit: ok, apparently magic links do a bunch to reduce customer service requests
the depressing thing is that all research shows that defaulting to magic links has a sizable impact on decreasing support burden doing rote user recovery tasks.
I am glad the platform I work on supports password-based auth even if it requires an extra click to get there (and also that we put username & password on one screen so password managers don’t get confused)
okay, yeah that's fair. that's not something I've ever had to manage so it's invisible to me
yeah it was not on my radar at all before going to work at a tiny startup that treats customer support people like humans
