I once had a job delivering flowers. It wasn't such a bad job, some logistical things were tough, plus life on the road. But the worst part was being around dead people so often. And the sense of sadness, like a void that consumes all life.
Hospitals are a strange place. One person leaves this life and on another floor, a baby is brought into the world.
I think the hardest part was never knowing if my delivery was for someone's wedding or someone's funeral. How do you prepare yourself for such strong emotions every day?
