We had a "neighborhood meeting" at the elementary school on Monday night about the river parkway redesign project. It was a drop in and look at the posters and talk to the parks department people thing, open from 5:30 to 7:00.
There's a rather badly deteriorated very wide road running through the segment of park that people drive very very fast on and which isn't a particularly important nor heavily used car road, but which is super useful as a bike and running and walking route, and they're going to convert it to a no-cars trail through the park, some details to be determined, thus the meeting.
Was cool meeting someone who grew up here in the 60s and remembers playing baseball in a sort of informal mowed area before the road was even built. He says he's going to outlast the road, how often do you get to say you outlived a road? I've only been here 28 years now, which I guess is a while, but that's a longer while!
