I have this vision in my mind's eye of a completely grey, wingless, unsmiling eggbug called “neutralbug”
Taking color photos under monochromatic light is one way to get a photo with no color rendition. There's others, but this method is good because it is weird.
(I'm not pulling the wings off an eggbug!)
