i was at fred meyer earlier and was shocked to learn they had taylor pork roll. only learned that existed like a week ago due to some accidental wiki'ing. now i don't remember what the story is with this shit but i'm 100% positive just from the name and the fact that it comes in a canvas sack that this is some East Coast Shit, so, having tasted it and found it extremely wanting, i want all the bostonians to explain why you eat this stuff. i know it's you. it's always you

edit: i have been informed it is a new jersey thing. sorry

alright as the new jerseyites recommended (sorry Boston; you understand, though, the probabilities pointed at you) i fried some pork roll and to my astonishment it did not stink up my kitchen and the weird flavor dissipated. i am prepared to attempt to eat this on a kaiser roll with egg and cheese

OK so I think the context you're missing here is New Jersey Diner Culture is all about being able to roll into a 24 hour diner drunk as hell at 3:30 in the morning and order an amazing pork roll, egg and cheese sandwich on a kaiser roll. No diner nearby? Quick Chek in North Jersey and Wawa in South Jersey will both provide this to you in convenience store format instead. For this reason in New Jersey it is the Breakfast Meat of Choice for many residents.

(Also I lived in california for a few years and no matter how hard I looked I could never find pork roll anywhere much to my dismay)

well what i mean is that i tasted it and it was incredibly gross. i didn't cook it first but i've tasted many processed meats before and after cooking and they don't really change that much. this stuff has an Odor about it that i'm afraid to perfuse through my house by cooking. it won't wash off my hands, the last thing i want is to aerosolize it.
