and then of course Ishinomori perfected the robot detective design to the point of it getting visually homaged in the 00s Tezuka's Metropolis, The Big O, and Street Fighter

Embarrassingly, I appear to have gotten my wired crossed, and thought you were referring to the plot of the episode of Red Dwarf. You are absolutely right: Nick Valentine (Fallout) and Heat Guy J (self-titled) are definitely robo-detectives.
