Majuu Ou (King of Demons) is a SNES action platformer where ur wife and daughter are kidnapped by demons and u go after them wiff your gun. It's teh earliest game I know which has something akin to that vibe, meowf (altho it replaces teh moody vibe with shock value instead, hehe, it was the 90s)
If there's anythink ealier or within that era I would assume it to be either an RPG or a licensed game based on a Sad Dad Franchise. But I think it properly started catching up steam in teh PS2/PS3 era.

Didn't Myst have something like that? Dad made the son bad and felt bad, or maybe the Dad was Bad and son was sad.
