If someone asks a question and you send them a github link it is my professional opinion that you should be made to face a firing squad. 😇
The one exception that comes to mind is that you'll occasionally see people using github as a sort of internal wiki-fied publishing platform for guides and white papers. I've sent this guide on how to write a peer review to many an aspiring academic in my day, and so I would like to politely ask for a reprieve from my execution.
