I got covid for my birthday. That sucked but it was 5 days of "being very sick in quarantine" and then a lot more time of "being moderately sick but not testing positive."
Then I had a good week.
Then I got (alongside my wife) the worst ear and sinus infection of my life.
The day I knew I was in trouble I woke up at 6:30 AM from sheer pain.
(I usually wake up at the crack of noon. I'm a programmer, not a farmer.)
I'm screaming from pain and schedule the first open appointment. I'm rolling in the bed and moaning and screaming and fidgeting from pain for 5.5 hours.
Screaming feral-style.
When I get to the doctor, she tried to convince me ibuprofen and acetaminophen would be enough. Like I hadnt already shoved slightly more than the recommended maximum doses into me in desperation.
(Like honestly I was considering self-perforation of my eardrum to release pressure by hour three.)
(No really this was painful. It was the second worst pain of my life, behind the KIDNEY STONES I had at age 20.)
I was like "really? I'm pausing. every two. words in. pain here."
"I'm not. William Shatner."
"And I. Already Took. Those."
Seriously I was like Kiefer Sutherland in Dark City. Just constantly rambling about "The Tuning."
Anyways, I appreciate there's a opiate problem out there but I don't have a history of drug seeking behavior* and she finally did give me some codeine. And a LOT of antibiotics.
Horse-pill antibiotics.
And that was like 6 days ago and I'm STILL sick as shit. Getting better FINALLY but wow.
Anyways: I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired. When you're working for no money on speculation on your own project, every down week is a week more you have to delay being paid... and I just lost a month effectively.
