what does that have to do with anything? illumination via burning gas? why would that mean undermining someone's sense of reality? that doesn't make any sense

It comes from a play called thaf (or Gaslight). I haven'f watched/read it so idk whaf Gaslighting happens in teh play in either sense or if they're related in some way, but, that's whaf I know, hehe.
