There are the wood elves or Bosmer, a playful people of the southwestern forests; the high elves or Aldmer, a proud group which reside on their own isle; and the grim dark elves or Dunmer of Morrowind.
Among the Mer, these are not the most unfortunate. See the Orcs or Orsimer, cursed with a monstrous appearance and warlike ways; the Falmer, reduced to pale creatures scrabbling in the darkness underground; and the bearded Dwemer, who vanished all at once from Nirn, leaving only cryptic technology behind.
But of all the Mer, one group remains the most put-upon and reviled: the Gamer.
