i recently got some replacement plastic parts for fixing up my old N64 controllers. it’s not perfect, but the joysticks aren’t bad now (as opposed to Definitely Bad). i also lubricated everything to help it last longer, and for this i used a commonly‐recommended Super Lube brand synthetic grease, which is safe for plastics and is non‐toxic (in fact, it’s food grade). seems to be working really well.

A small tube of Super Lube brand multi‐purpose synthetic grease. The packaging is light grey with black text. At the top is the Super Lube text logo, followed by an image logo which looks like a flag made of 4 coloured horizontal stripes: green, blue, orange, and yellow.

nobody seems to like it when i tell them about / show them the Super Lube i got though. i guess it’s the name? idk what the issue is, it’s perfectly descriptive. you can see though, on the top‐right of the tube, next to the logo and rejected pride flag design, there’s a little image tucked away in the corner. it looks kind of like the tube of Super Lube itself? what is that.

well, i found the full‐size version of it on their website. their “mascot”.

The Super Lube “mascot”. It is a pressurized can of their synthetic lubricant, with packaging that looks like the tube above, except it also has some human features, which are all light grey like the rest of the can. A pair of realistic muscular arms protrude from just below the cap. They’re bent to rest on the can as though on hips, with the hands in closed fists. Some extra vein details are drawn onto their biceps. The cap on top has a face embedded into it with detailed shading, featuring pronounced cheek bones and dimples, an unrealistically‐triangular nose, a cleft chin, and large eyebrow ridges which protrude from the top of the cap. One brow is raised higher than the other, and they are hairless. The other features are more cartoony: a wide smile which just looks like a thin, light line casting a shadow, and 2 wide, realistically‐shaped eyes rendered with light grey gradients making up the sclera, iris, and pupil.

people like when i show them this even less.
