Does anyone have any good synonyms for the word "bitching" (e.g. ~complaining). I can't quite think of a word that carries the same level of like, "complaining about something pointless with way more irritation than is warranted" but don't want to use "bitching" in my writing bc of the underlying misogyny & honestly just style reasons

"grumbling" maybe? not sure if it's an exact synonym but i feel like it could have similar connotations
Grousing, moaning and the already-suggested whinging seem closest, though I agree that bitching has a different feel to any of them
Yeah grousing might be the closest, the "zzz"-ish sound in the middle gives it a similar hard edge to it
once again, Yiddish comes through with 'words that describe annoying people'
