like a reverse metric system. Americans just call them whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, etc.

it's SO much more intuitive to me!! whole note/rest takes up the whole thing, and then it's just simple fractions from there! I get the demihemisemi etc. but what the heck is a "quaver" even
