it feels wrong because i've basically only ever heard british people talk about it and call it the "zed ecks" spectrum

we solved this problem by immigrating to Canada. we're allowed to say "zed" now. :D
(but seriously, a thing we only realized comparatively recently is there are no actual rules about what pronunciations you use, or what measuring systems or anything like that either. you can use whatever you prefer.)
