i collect all of these cool stickers and keep them in an envelope because "im gonna get a new laptop in a couple years" and so i don't actually appreciate the simple joy they could bring me in the present because im too anxious about the future

realistically what im going to do is just hit em with the hairdryer and peel them off and stick em on the new laptop but what if that process doesn't work?

i have a very silly mind.

i do this but i also save the dead laptops as mementos, i might put my old chromebook in a shadowbox or see if i can't load it up with software to make a digital picture frame out of it, or use it as a chromecast, or somethin'

I mostly haven't had laptops, the last one was a netbook that got too old to use for anything. I did take it apart and the disk drive is opened up and in my cool-things display case. Now, the Framework, don't know what will become of it someday. Maybe the main board comes out and goes into a non-portable case for some utility use and the rest of it lives on as a laptop with a few-generations-newer processor main board swapped in. Or I guess the lid itself could be taken apart pretty easily to make a bestickered wallhanging if the whole thing gets retired.

I put a sticker in the window of my old computer case, mistakenly assumed it was a vinyl cling because it was printed mirrored to go on the inside of glass, and stretched it trying to peel it off to take it with me to a new computer case.

I too thought I'd be upset about losing a sticker but it was more of a "Gosh darn, oh well"
